  • This collection was inspired by the light airy pill shapes that we're starting to see in a lot of the trends in interior designs. You see it quite a bit in furniture, mirrors, lighting.
This shape also was inspired by our archives. Here at Belwith Keeler, we have an archive that goes back to 1893 when we first started doing parts.
We keep one master pattern for each collection that we've done. This one is a midcentury modern piece inspired in 1953. When we find vintage parts, we bring them into today's styling. So the part from the fifties was a little heavy band shaped like a strap. So we wanted to give this a light airy feel visually. It's a beefy part, it has a lot of finger height. So when you see things in interior design like the mirrors and the like, they're pretty much in a vertical orientation.
This works both ways, horizontally and vertically. It allows you to grab it with your hand or even just a finger. Check out the, knob itself. It's just a nice little ring.
It's got ergonomics. When we go in as designers, we pay attention to all the details. It's about touch. It's about feel. It's form and function. Visually, it looks like a square shape, but when you feel it, you'll feel the subtle curves. So you gravitate towards it. It has that gravitational ergonomics to it.
